Michael J. Mullin received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He
is currently a professor of history at Augustana University, where he serves as National Endowment
for the Humanities Chair of Regional Heritage. In addition to articles on American
Indian history, he is the author of Science in the Service of the State: A Centennial History of
the South Dakota Academy of Science, 1915–2015.
