David M. Grabitske, museum director and assistant director of the South Dakota State Historical Society, studies the business of preserving the past. He earned his BS in history at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and his MPNA and DBA at Metro State University. A native Midwesterner, he has served three state history organizations, including twenty-one years at the Minnesota Historical Society.
