Ruth Page Jones delivers background information on significant historical events that led to votes for women in South Dakota. Through her presentation attendees will gain an understanding of our political past and the important role women played in the early history of the state.

Jones's essay "'The Women Voted': School Suffrage in Dakota Territory and South Dakota" is featured in the upcoming book Equality at the Ballot Box: Votes for Women on the Northern Great Plains, which is published by the South Dakota Historical Society Press.
