The Local Arrangements Committee and Executive Board invite you to join them at SDLA’s Annual Conference to be held September 25-27 at the Spearfish Convention Center. This year’s theme is Engage and Inspire. Our presenters will provide a diverse platform to inspire attendees traveling from near and far with topics and ideas to bring back to their libraries and communities.

We are excited to host four keynote speakers during the conference. Kari Chapin, best-selling author, speaker, teacher, and professional pep talk administrator will be speaking Wednesday afternoon. Current ALA President, Wanda Brown, will join us Thursday morning followed in the afternoon by Jessie Taken Alive Rencountre, the 2017 Emerging Tribal Writers Award winner. Conference will conclude with Jennifer LaGarde author of “The Adventures of Library Girl” blog.

Along with a wide range of amazing sessions and presenters, Mary Keeling, American Association of School Librarians President, will be joining us to present two sessions on Thursday. Minitex will present a pre-conference workshop on linked data on Wednesday alongside the Association of College & Research Libraries workshop on Project Outcome for academic libraries.

This annual event provides a fascinating opportunity for librarians to visit with vendors and meet with other professionals and leaders from across the state.  Registration forms and hotel information are available on the SDLA website. Sign in using your account information to receive your member discount. We hope to see you there!
